  • Vacuum the seats and floors of your car. Pay close attention to carpets, seats, seams of the upholstery, and so on. You should also vacuum the exteriors of your vehicle, such as around the hood opening and trunk opening. This is where the leaves and dirt can accumulate. In addition, vacuum all the doors. This will get rid of ants, roaches, spiders, and other bugs.
  • Make sure to get rid of any debris or trash from the floorboards and under the seats of your vehicle.

Diatomaceous Earth: You can apply diatomaceous earth on all the cracks and seams in the upholstery. You should also sprinkle this substance on the carpet. This substance is a natural rock talcum powder which can easily eliminate insects and bugs; however, it is not harmful to humans.

Vinegar Mixture: You can mix half a cup of water and half a cup of vinegar. Mix them together and pour it onto a spray bottle. You can spray it on your tires to keep pests away. Removing their point of contact can significantly lower the risk of infestation. You can also use this mixture to wash down hard surfaces in your vehicle. Do not worry about the smell because it will eventually go away once the mixture dries.

Eucalyptus Leaves: You can place a bag of eucalyptus leaves or a sprig of eucalyptus under the car seats or in the trunk. The scent of eucalyptus can naturally deter insects and bugs.

Lemon-Scented Cleaner: Use this to wipe the surfaces of your vehicle. This will not only remove dust and dirt, but it will also discourage pests, such as spiders, ants, and roaches.

Boric Acid: You can create bait for these bugs and insects. Simply mix boric acid and syrup, and then place it under the seats or in the trunk. The sweet scent of the syrup can attract bugs and insects while the boric acid dehydrates and kills them.

Well, a new heroin vaccine may that may help cure addiction works kind of like Pac-Man, and Ms. Pac-Man. When someone has been using heroin for years and is ready to stop, a vaccine that’s being worked on right now may help that process by working through the body gobbling up the heroin particles, seemingly eliminating them from the user’s body.

The Vaccine

Kim Janda, the study’s senior author, helped come up with the idea for the vaccine, and then the vaccine itself. While he was working on a drug that counteracting drug addiction, at one point he realized how ridiculous it felt to be creating one drug to stop the effects and use of another drug.

Why not create something more like the vaccine for measles that treats the problem, rather than substituting one drug for another? So he and his team did just that.

Pac-Man Like

The Pac-Man-like vaccine works by triggering the body to release heroin-fighting antibodies. When using heroin, the person who has been vaccinated will not get high. Instead, his or her body is gobbling up, or neutralizing, all heroin that is in the bloodstream, before it reaches the brain.

In other words, heroin will no longer feel good to the user; the drug will be metabolized by the vaccine before it is able to do anything positive for the person seeking the high. From there, what’s the point in putting harmful chemicals into your body? There isn’t one, you won’t get high. Pretty cool, right?

Not A Quick Fix

While this sounds like a quick fix, the vaccine is not meant to stand alone. The heroin vaccine may help cure addiction, but there are many other things a heroin addict needs to adopt into his or her life to fully stop using.

The vaccine could be viewed as more of a crutch, or training wheels, during early recovery when relapse is very likely. Knowing that the vaccine has been administered hopefully keeps a newly-clean addict from relapsing, but if that doesn’t work, then the physical interference will (i.e. the addict no longer gets high when using heroin, so a relapse is worthless.)

Why Haven’t We Started Yet

So why aren’t we hearing about people getting vaccinated for heroin addiction? Well, the vaccine has only been tested on rats up to this point. Unfortunately, financial matters have kept the heroin vaccine, that may help cure addiction, from being tested on humans. As you know, the system of a rat is less intricate than that of one of us, so it is unknown how well the results will translate to actual heroin addicts.

Right now, treatment for heroin addiction takes a lot of work. People who become addicted to the drug, and other opiates like prescription pills (OxyContin, Vicodin, Norco, etc.), have a severly hard time detoxing from the drug and then staying clean. Heroin has a pull on its users unlike many other substances. Through individual and group therapy, plus holistic modalities and individual treatment plans, heroin addicts can recovery and live a successful life without the drug.

Roughly once a month an old friend will get in touch with me who I haven’t heard from in years. To begin with they’ll ask how I’m doing and we’ll go through the rigmarole of catching up, but after a few questions they’ll then get on to the real reason they’re calling – for advice on how to lose weight or build muscle. I’m a health and fitness writer you see and an amateur bodybuilder, and as such I’m always the ‘health fanatic’ in any group of friends. I’m not offended by this and I certainly don’t really mind – I’m well aware that if I worked in IT I’d similarly be required to answer lots of questions about computers – but what does get me is the fact that these people never learn. They ring up with great intentions, I write them the program or diet plan they’re looking for, and then they promptly give up within the space of a few weeks and never lose any weight.

And why is it? Is it the advice I give them that’s no any good? No – it’s simply the fact that their lifestyles aren’t conducive to getting into shape. They’re hoping to simply change what they eat and then see the pounds drop off, or to start a new training program and stick to it when they’ve learned from past experience that they can’t stick to them and they don’t change anything else.

The point I always try to get across then these days is that it isn’t enough to just change your training program or your diet, you need to look at the other factors in your lifestyle and at the root causes of your weight gain. By getting to the bottom of your issue rather than just trying to change one thing you will be much more likely to see permanent change that actually lasts and makes a real difference.

So what other kinds of things do you need to address? Well it’s different for everyone, but here are just a few things that you might want to consider looking at…

Your Psychology: Sometimes the reason we don’t lose weight or stick at a training program is more psychological than physical. Here it might be that we’re depressed and eating as a comfort for instance, or it might even be that we are punishing ourselves in some way. There are all kinds of unconscious drives and pulls that can make us less likely to be able to stick to our new routines, so it can be helpful to speak to a therapist or to get weight loss hypnosis to get to the bottom of what these might be.

Time: Working out or running regularly will of course take time and no all of us have that time to dedicate to our new regimes. If you find yourself without that time then you need to look at clearing your schedule so that you do, or even simply waking up a little bit earlier so you have an extra hour to train in the morning.

Tiredness: If your energy levels are low then you will find that you don’t have the energy you need to work out and that you start to crave carbs to fuel yourself. Any number of factors could address this issue whether it means just getting more sleep, or eating a healthier breakfast in the morning.

Social Pressure: If your friends all love cake and eat it in front of you every time you go round then this can make it very difficult to eat less. If these social pressures are an issue then you need to speak to your friends and tell them how they could support your new goals, or even ask them to join you so that they become an asset rather than a hindrance.

The glasses lens can also sometimes give a reflection, which could sometimes lead to a distorted image. This is obviously not ideal while playing a sport that is highly focused on accuracy.

In racquet sports such as tennis and squash there is a huge reliance on hand-eye-coordination.

Contact lenses have fewer minification and magnification effects than glasses do. This means that the size of a viewed object is more constant.

This is hugely beneficial in sport as it gives you a better level of depth perception, and accuracy.

Although contact lenses are great for many sports, they are not recommended for swimming or other water sports. This is because water contains bacteria, which can have a damaging impact on eyes if trapped behind the lenses.

If you are thinking of wearing contact lenses for sport, it is recommended to wear daily disposable lenses as they can be thrown away once you’ve finished exercising. This is to reduce the chance of returning any bacteria that might have got caught under the eye during the sport.
