It is generally believed by the majority of people, that weddings are ‘for’ women. It’s women who apparently look forward to their wedding days as little children, and its women who typically tend to appreciate things like beautiful weddings, elaborate cakes and family gatherings. For all those reasons, it makes sense that a wedding should be mainly ‘about’ the woman who is sure to get more out of it.
But of course a wedding shouldn’t really be ‘about’ either one of you. Instead it should be about both of you, and about the two of you coming together in matrimony. The fact that a guy is generally going to be more apprehensive about a wedding? That’s just all the more reason to make sure there are things in it that he can enjoy too.
As the bride, you can bet that your groom is rushing around trying to make sure that your dream day goes perfectly. So the least you can do is to try and give him something back. Here’s what you can do to ensure he has a great time too…
If you’re something of a bridezilla then you can expect that to have an impact on your guy’s enjoyment. Stay relaxed and let him make some decisions too. And when it comes to his stag, don’t be too strict about him avoiding strippers or not inviting that friend you don’t like – let him have a great time as it will help him to feel ready and excited on the day.
You are no doubt looking forward to the chance to look like a Disney Princess and to look incredibly beautiful in your wedding dress. But do note that the things a woman feels pretty in are often different from the things that a guy thinks they look hot in. If you want to ensure your guy is excited to marry you, you need to make sure that you tick both boxes so try to think about what he likes. Does he love it when you wear your hair up? Then consider having it up for the wedding! Does he love how you look in bright red lipstick? Then it wouldn’t hurt you to wear that either!
Make Him Feel Like Bond
You get to feel like a Disney princess, but sadly most guys have very little interest in feeling like Disney characters (unless it’s Hercules). For the guy, this is about feeling like James Bond and looking dapper and cool. Help him to choose a suit he’s going to feel confident in and add in little touches like a wedding limo.
Make it ‘Him’
Certain things you choose for your wedding will help to make it feel more ‘you’. At the same time then, you should also choose things that will make it feel more ‘him’ – even if they aren’t the things you would have chosen for the wedding. If he wants to name the tables after football teams, or if he wants to dance to UB40, then let him have one of those things so that he feels like he’s had some control over the proceedings too.
