A wedding cake is a traditional part of a most weddings in this century. This tradition has its roots back in the Roman Empire. In that time it was not a wedding cake but a bread which the groom broke over the bride’s head as a symbol of their dominance in a marriage. Today, it is a bit different symbol. The joint role of bride and groom cutting cake has to symbolize their first joint role in a marriage. Not only the symbol has changed, the way how cakes are prepared has changed too.
