90% of these dont look that overwhelming at all, it just looks like a lot because its either in several cups, or because of the background (a small kid, emphasis on certain parts).

It’s not a big meal. More of a meal with lots of variety.
In various asian cultures instead of receiving a plate with a piece of meat, salad and chips or something it’s all in the middle.
Everyone then just picks out what they want. Some of these are images are of peoples main meal and all the ‘sides’ are a separate bowl which is shared. Also keeping in mind the amount of people being served, occasion and preferences.

By the way 2nd last picture the food in the bottom right corner is really nice. Cheese and rice with some other stuff, had it at Kim Gary’s.
