You know the situation, you want to grown your own small garden. Are pesticides and fertilizers really required? Organic farms that grown their plants organically can show us that it is possible without usage of pesticides. As replacement for artificial fertilizers we can use compost or other organic fertilizers.
So how to prevent that my plants are full of pest. Usually the problem is not the pest itself. It is like with humans. If human immunity system is strong as result of diet, than bacterial or viral infection has minimal chance to survive. The same problem is with plants. And the problem starts in the soil. If plants are constantly full of a pest, it is time to start there. First do the soil PH test, this tests can be bought in your store. Then add more mulch to your soil. Acid rain and persistent planting could caused extreme damages on your soil. Second, choose a disease-resistant varieties of your plants. Quality soil is everything, so everything starts there. Happy planting.
